New Songs At the Meetings

So we did our first real set of new songs at the meeting this week. How did your congregation do? Dewey usually has great singing but this week was pretty quiet. The nice part is that we all just laughed it off. I didn't realize how second nature it is to sing the songs we've had for the past 30 years till we had to sing new ones! Even singing "From House to House" was crazy with a different melody. My brain kept going back to the old melody, even while the song was playing! But this is good! New synapses in the brain. And of course the songs are beautiful!

By the way, does anyone know the theme for the convention this year?

  1. Watson reminded me that last year they didn't tell us the theme of the DC until our invitations to the public came out, so it could be the same way this year?? BTW ours here in Indy is July 30,31 & August 1, in Dayton Ohio.

  2. Ya, that's what I was thinking. They did allude to maintaining our integrity... so maybe something along those lines? We'll find out soon enough.

Our dates here is the first weekend in June. 4-6 I think. But your dates will give us more time to get out there, maybe. :-)

  3. Our singing in the Brownsburg Congregation was very quiet as well, especially on the last song, which by the way reminds me of the Jurassic Park theme song... It was very fast and if you had only heard it once (like me) at the D.C. it was a little difficult to get the right melody. But we made it through it. They broke us in easy the first night singing, they were all old songs just with some new words added. I'm looking forward to singing more songs!
